Although many times it was hard for these dreams to seem off the beaten track(predicate) from possible, their dreams and hopes survived through the hymns and songs they sang throughout the fields in which they labored. Langston Hughes song Harlem was written in 1951 just before Lorraine Hansberrys embolden A Raisin in the Sun. In the poem Hughes uses the simile Does it teetotal up / like a raisin in the sun? in reference to a dream deferred (1-3). Lorraine Hansberry found a way
to make these three short lines of Hughes poem into a play titled A Raisin in the Sun. In the play, the central bailiwick is the importance and value of dreams.
