Manifest Destiny

When the Puritans were driven from England they came to Boston. In their minds they had the persuasion that God had given them this land and they were on an errand in the wilderness. They created the password commonwealth and the City on a Hill to gift the world just how great they were and how accurate their society was. consequently when William Penn colonized Pennsylvania, the Town of Brotherly Love, he was trying to action the same thing, a society where every could live unneurotic in harmony and for one purpose, to impose Gods will. The term Manifest Destiny was first used in print by John L. OSullivan who called for the annexation of Texas and eventually Oregon. Although Americans perceived their Manifest Destiny as a tender-hearted gallery it was in fact an aggressive imperialistic movement pursued at the expense of others.
In the 1840s this so called benevolent movement started. OSullivan prompted many commonwealth to in any case call for the annexation of Texas. They had the idea that it was their destiny to take it. They cut the Mexicans that lived there thinking that they were in fact making their lives better. The people felt the need to impose democracy on all of North America including Canada, South America, Mexico, and Cuba.



The Manifest Destiny was the perfect excuse to disregard people and other countries. Pushing into the do territory, they drove out or slaughtered millions of Plains Indians. In Oregon which was employed by the British at the time, U.S. citizens packed their bags and headed west on the Oregon Trail. We soon outnumbered the British and settled on the forty-ninth Parallel. Word soon came from California that there were massive amounts of funds in the territory which spurred the Gold Rush. American came across the plains in search of gold destroying anything in their way to strike it rich.
