1. BACKGROUND

In the beginning of 21^st century ` flavor management has entered a youthful era (Zhang, 2000), and as the millennium progresses it is expected to become more than and more `advanced and more strategic (Dahlgaard, 2001). The global business suffice has entered a new phase when TQM is expected to provide sustainability to the strategic egression for the businesses. Over the last few decades TQM has been considered an effective management practice and even a `necessity for corporate survival (Juran, 1985).

Although TQM principles have been recognized by umpteen organizations as `capable of producing competitiveness (Cullen, 1988), by providing quality culture of the business, umpteen companies in global automobile industry ar impuissance to obtain an efficient use of TQM methods and models in their management practice. This has caused many failures in providing sustainable customer satisfaction and `continuous quality improvement, which is `the essential belief of the TQM philosophy (Deming, 1986).

The framework of this research proposal first starts with a sodding(a) discussion of concept of TQM and its development, as well as its sustainability principles, which are examined and presented in the literature round off of various studies of TQM strategy.

A set of performance measurement of the companies practicing TQM and think organizational theories on quality orientation are similarly analyzed based on the research of theoretical schools of TQM strategy. Strategies for efficaciously sustaining TQM implementation are also highlighted.

In the following part the research objectives deduced from literature review are presented.
